Volkswagen Touran (10 - 16)
This has been an evergreen for families because of its unobtrusive, practical nature. It is a real alternative to the likes of the Ford S-Max. Some say that it’s more of a revamped or face-lifted version of the previous model, but having said that, the previous model was a great success and still is a fine car so it would be acceptable if it were only a revamp. It has some distinctive features which make it stand out, along with the recognisable Volkswagen family face. Practicality levels are high too. There’s a huge cabin that can seat up to seven people (seven seats come as standard), plenty of leg and head room, and a fairly big boot for storing luggage. The seats are quite versatile and can fold flat to create even more space. On the road, some improvements were made to the suspension and the chassis to lower body roll. It has great steering, handles brilliantly and it is surprisingly agile considering its size.
