This is one of the best looking pick-ups on the market; the styling is second to none. The rugged, robust appearance on the outside helps to sell it to off-road lovers, even though it is not an all-out off-roader. However, it is a fine motor when taken on to rough and bumpy terrain. What really sets the Amarok apart is that it feels like a car both in the cabin and on the road. Despite its size, it is quite economical and efficient. The interior is well laid out and designed. There’s enough room for five passengers (if you go for the single-cab model), the seating is comfortable, and the centre console is logically laid out and easy to use. There is a high level of standard and safety equipment, even in the entry-level models. Behind the wheel, you get a sense of the Amarok’s power. It is a thoroughly capable and enjoyable pickup to drive. On the road the handling is excellent, the steering precise, and the ride decently comfortable. Off-road, it is an exceptional drive. The steering is nicely weighted, the suspension deals well with bumps, there is impressive grip, and the powerful engines mean that it can trundle across harsh terrains with ease and comfort.
