Chrysler 300C (05 - 10)
Irish people know when they see value for money and they certainly saw it in this. With its high waistline, distinctive front grille and 18ins wheels, it is a lot of car for the money and a real alternative to the big German brands. There are fine engines, including the option of the excellent 3.0 V6 218bhp diesel built by Mercedes. The cabin is first class and there is plenty of room. Taxi drivers love this car. It’s practical and there’s a huge boot. Obviously, there’s little point in having a premium looking car if it doesn’t drive like one. The 300C has shaken off the reputation that most American cars have of vague steering and soft suspension. This handles well, the steering feels sharp and it’s surprisingly nimble on corners.
