Audi R8 Coupe (15 - present)
Following on from the original R8 is certainly an unenviable task - the much loved everyday supercar was a big success for Audi. This new R8 appears more than capable of keeping up with, if not bettering, its older brother. Audi’s design philosophy of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” is evident in the new R8, it could be called evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The angular lines give it a sharper more aggressive stance than its predecessor. When it comes to engine and transmission choice there is only a 5.2 litre V10 married to a seven speed dual clutch automatic gearbox available at the moment. The “basic” R8 is offered with a 540bhp V10; reaching 100kph in 3.5 seconds, the aptly named V10 Plus raises the power to an eye watering 610bhp and reaches 100kph in 3.2 seconds. So, if you are on the look out for the perfect all-round supercar and have €250,000 burning a hole in your pocket the R8 might be the perfect choice.
