Toyota Rav4 (16 - present)
Just when you thought the compact SUV segment couldn't get any hotter this year – Toyota have thrown their updated RAV4 into the mix. With six and a half million sold since its launch in 1994 (90 per cent of which are apparently still on the road), it's back with a new Hybrid option, joining the Yaris, Auris and Prius in the brand's semi-electric line-up. There's also a new and improved 2.0l diesel offering better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions than before. The new engine line-up accompanies a mid-life facelift which sees it get a sharper exterior design and the addition of some new high-tech safety features. The generous interior space and comfortable ride quality prevail, and the reliability that the badge is famed for should ensure strong residual values.
