BMW i8 (14 - present)
After dipping their toes into the electric market with the cute and practical little i3 in 2013 – BMW have gone full throttle for their second release of the i-range, producing not just an electric car, but an electric supercar in the shape of the i8. Genuinely breath-taking to look at, the i8’s stunning dimensions are sure to get more than a few stares at the traffic lights, as will the way the doors open upwards like wings. MPG figures are ridiculous, with BMW claiming it can reach 135, although if you drive it like a supercar the chances of this happening are quite slim. The astounding technology continues to the cabin. One feature even allows you to pre-heat or cool your seats via an app on your phone. Unfortunately the price-tag is as jaw-dropping as the car itself, but BMW have really surpassed themselves here. The i8 is not just a supercar. It’s the future.
