BMW 1-Series (11 - present)
Back when the 1 Series was first released, it definitely got people talking. The general shape of the car was something that had never been seen in previous BMW models, so it divided opinion amongst BMW enthusiasts. With this second generation of the 1 Series, BMW have improved the shape, giving it a longer and wider profile and subtly tweaking some of the panels. In keeping with the new and improved exterior, there’s a very refined and nicely designed cabin. The seats are really comfortable and the central console looks great. Everything is easy to use with lots of soft touch materials and there is some scope for customisation. On the road, the 1-series’ performance is as interesting and fun as its appearance. It has great handling - the steering is excellent, offering lots of feedback, and it grips well on a wet surface. In general the ride is quite smooth, although with the run-flat tyres it can feel a bit firm at times. But that shouldn’t be enough to put you off it completely.
