Citroen C5 (08 - present)
When this was rolled out Citroen used the slogan: “Reassuringly German. Unmistakably Citroen”. That was deigned to underline how well built the car was. There is no denying the C5 does have some unmistakable German qualities to it. From the drive quality, to the refined interior and good looks, it is a good package. It is one of the most comfortable cars in its class. The cabin is large, comfortable and well decked out. Each trim looks and feels high-end, the seats feel comfortable and there’s plenty of leg and head room. The central console looks great. On the road, the C5 backs up its sophisticated appearance with a composed, assured and comfortable performance. It handles really well, the steering is a little light and the chassis keeps body roll to a minimum.
Look out for
• There were complaints that the TPMV (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Valves) are susceptible to rust so be vigilant
What we like
• Great looking car both inside and out
• Great engines, particularly the diesel
• Huge amount of standard kit
• Fuel economy is really good, especially in the diesels
What we don't like
• Residual values are a little bit disappointing
