Toyota Yaris (11 - 14)
The Yaris is something of an institution with Irish families. How many of these do you see outside homes all over the country? Since its debut it has been one of the class leaders and probably the best seller in the segment. It is a smart looking car with a comfortable cabin and it keeps running costs to a minimum. There haven’t been drastic changes in its appearance, mainly because there was no need. The real improvement is on the inside with more space in the cabin. There will be no complaints when it comes to leg and head room. Behind the wheel, it is easy to drive and nimble. The handling is crisp and there is plenty of grip. Ride quality can be firm but still comfortable. Like most in this class, the Yaris is at its best on city streets, but can also hold its own on the motorway. There are some fine engines; all efficient and boasting impressive figures in terms of fuel economy.
