Minus the slightly awkward looks, the original X1 had a lot going for it. The small dimensions made it easy to drive and offered all the comfort and prestige of a BMW SUV in a compact, easy to live with package. The latest version has been given something of a make under with much safer styling than before, mirroring the larger X3 and X5.
