Chevrolet Aveo (08 - 12)
Some may say the Aveo is just a face-lifted version of the Kalos rather than an all new replacement, but that isn’t exactly the case. It does bear a strong resemblance to the Kalos as it is based on it, but that’s where the similarities end. The Aveo has a more contemporary look and is a completely different car underneath. The new cabin looks well and feels comfortable. Considering the dimensions of the Aveo, there’s a fair amount of space for four. Standard kit is good in the base models, and the dash is well laid out and easy to navigate. It is simple car to drive and manoeuvre. It performs at its best in an urban setting thanks to the nippy engines and the tight turning circle. It handles well and the steering feels responsive. It’s an ideal car for beginner drivers too not only because it’s easy to operate, but because it’s inexpensive to buy and doesn’t cost a fortune to keep on the road.
Look out for
• Check the plastic trims etc for wear and tear as they can break very easily
What we like
• It’s great value for money; especially if you’re a learner driver
• Doesn’t cost a lot to keep on the road
• Decent amount of space in the cabin given its size
• It returns some impressive mpg
• Economical car with low CO2 emissions
What we don't like
• Unfortunately there is no diesel option
• It’s not the best looking car in its class
